Two one-story and two two-story log terraced houses were completed in Korvenkylä in 2021, with a total of 21 apartments. There are apartment options for different living situations: two-story and three-room apartments of various sizes, as well as comfortable four-room apartments.
The exterior walls and facades of the houses are entirely constructed with natural log structures. However, the mezzanine floors and walls between the apartments are made of concrete, which accordingly achieves good sound insulation. It is therefore a “hybrid project” that combines the benefits of concrete construction and log construction. The heating system is geothermal. The project has cable TV. The apartments have water-circulating radiator heating and water-circulating underfloor heating in wet areas. Each apartment is equipped with apartment-specific electricity and water metering. The apartments have water meters and water billing is adjusted annually according to actual consumption.
There is a cold storage room for outdoor equipment at the main entrance of the apartments. At the end of building D, all apartments have a warm storage room for movable items. The windows have venetian blinds. The floors of the living rooms have wood-patterned vinyl plank flooring and the walls of the apartments are painted. The walls and floors of the bathrooms are tiled. Korvenkylä is located approximately nine kilometers northeast of the center of Oulu, in the immediate vicinity of Kuusamontie (Highway 20). The center can be reached conveniently in about 10 minutes by car or public transport along Kuusamontie. Basic services can be found in neighboring areas, for example, a grocery store, kindergarten and school are located in the Hönttämäki district.
